Volunteer
Reef
Check is always looking for volunteers! Whether you are located in
Dominican Republic, or if you are a diver or not, Reef Check teams
around the world can use your help.
If you
are a diver,
consider participating in a Reef Check Dominican Republic or
EcoAction training course so you can monitor your favorite reefs.
Here are some of the ways in which you
can help:
Marine Scientists
We need team
scientists, preferably marine biologists with a Master's degree and
reef experience, to help train team
members in taxonomy, survey techniques and to lead
surveys. |

Dive
Professionals
We need experienced dive professionals who
can work as team leaders with the team scientist to make sure that
surveys are carried out safely.
Recreational Divers
We need teams of experienced recreational
divers who are interested to learn more about marine life to
participate in simple surveys of reefs.
Students & Members of the
Public
Many Reef Check Coordinators and teams could use help from
volunteers for fundraising, outreach, office work and PR assistance.
Community Organizers
If you are interested in or have
experience in community projects (fundraising, office operations,
project management), we need your help to organize Reef Check in
your area. In particular, we have had a lot of help from established
NGOs such as Earthwatch, etc. who already have coral reef monitoring
programs, but who found that it was easy to include Reef Check
methods in their regular work. By joining Reef Check, your group
will gain national and international media coverage and will join
the largest reef survey in the world.
Businesses
Dozens of companies small and large have
received major advertising success by sponsoring a Reef Check team
(travel, equipment and training). Several hotels and dive resorts
have successfully used Reef Check dive-ins to promote their business
while sponsoring teams. Sponsorship for fundraising events like our
annual Reef Rescue event is also needed.
PR, Media, Freelancers
Reef Check needs help to get the word out. We will be happy to
assist you in preparing Reef Check stories for TV, radio or print
media. Volunteers with PR experience are particularly welcome to
assist in fundraising activities.
Photographers
Reef Check is always looking for some
great underwater photos for promotional and training materials. If
you would like to donate some of your photographs to Reef Check,
please contact us at

If you can help with any of these things or if you would like
to help with something not listed here, please contact Headquarters
